The region for the article selection for this assignment is the Middle East

No US Policy or anything related to the US.

This assignment is not required, but is offered for those who wish to add to their point totals.

For Assignment 2 the newspaper article you choose must have been published between January 26, 2019 and February 15, 2019.

Newspaper articles and commentaries are often used by historians as primary sources–as evidence for a topic they are writing about.  So our newspapers of today will become primary sources for historians in the future.  See pages 5-6 in your syllabus for specific instructions on how to do these assignments and receive all of the 25 points.

Be sure to submit your file to BOTH Blackboard and Turnitin in order to get these points.

The region for the article selection for this assignment is the Middle East [Turkey, Syria, Iran, Iraq, Jordan, Lebanon, Israel, Kuwait, Palestine, UAE, Yemen, Oman, Saudi Arabia].  Not refugees to the U.S. from there; not U.S. policy toward that region.

There are question that need to be answer throughout the paper.

The assignments consist of finding a newspaper article that appears during the time period of the course listed in the assignment, either in a local paper or in an on-line newspaper such as the New York Times, Los Angeles Times, Chicago Sun Times, Washington Post, Greenwood Commonwealth or any other United States or English language newspaper. This means CNN, yahoo, Fox News, MSNBC, Huffington Post, etc. are not eligible for these assignments. ONLY NEWSPAPERS/NEWSPAPER websites. Each article must have some discussion of, or allusion to, a region of the world designated for that particular assignment—See Assignments Tab as the regions change for each assignment. These are not articles on the U.S., U.S. policy in that region or immigrants from that region to the U.S.

1. These articles must come from newspapers, not websites unconnected to a print paper.

2. Cite the article [Title of the article, author [if given], name of the newspaper, date of publication] AT THE TOP OF YOUR PAPER. Put your name at the top of the paper, as well. No repeat headers allowed in your papers.

3. You are to summarize the article and the point of view of the author.

5. Then indicate whether you agree or disagree with what is presented and whether your textbook sheds any light on the subject—use the index and cite the textbook pages.

6. Comment on how history is “used” by contemporary authors to support their points of view or illustrate subject matters they deal with.

7. Have you learned anything from the article?

8. Finally, and most importantly, what are the specific sources the author(s) cite(s)/uses to support the article?

what was the worst aspect of the life of an Auschwitz inmate?

  1. what was the worst aspect of the life of an Auschwitz inmate? What would your reaction be if you were a German civilian living near Auschwitz and knew of the activities there?

What was life like for the children and women of the Third Reich?  How did the propaganda aim at them directly?  What measures were used to control and brainwash the different groups?

Think about your personality and (honestly) write about how you would most likely react in this environment.;

2.      The title of the film is “Auschwitz: Blueprint for Genocide”

Choose two of the following questions to answer in your discussion.

  1. In your opinion, what was the worst aspect of the life of an Auschwitz inmate?
  2. What would your reaction be if you were a German civilian living near Auschwitz and knew of the activities there?
  3. How does a concentration camp differ from an extermination camp?
  4. What conditions existed that allowed people to inflict such cruelty?
  5. How did the Nazi Party convince the German people to hate and eventually allow the killing of 6,000,000 Jewish people and 5,000,000 non-Jewish people?

Creativity and Innovation

Creativity and Innovation

Educators strive to create a classroom that instills creativity and innovation. In this discussion, you will think about the creative and innovative instructional approach known as the flipped classroom (Links to an external site.) while making direct connections to the Common Core State Standards and teacher decision-making based on student assessments. Reflecting on your previous discussion on CCSS (Links to an external site.) in Week 2, you will complete the three parts of this discussion’s initial post.

There are three parts to this discussion, which are described below.

Part 1

  • Discuss how the flipped classroom idea can be used in conjunction with CCSS (Math or English Language Arts)
  • Describe ways you could incorporate technology used in the flipped classroom idea to support the Framework for 21st Century Learning (Links to an external site.) in the classroom as it relates to decision making based on student assessments.

Part 2
Now, think about assessments you have created or used in the past to address the following:

  • Discuss if a school or teacher should use a multimedia resource that is absolutely amazing in delivering both content and assessment but is not accessible.
  • Evaluate whether the resource must be excluded from a course if there are no reasonably equivalent accessible alternatives.

Part 3

Learning and Innovation Skills and Student Assessment

Learning and Innovation Skills and Student Assessment

This assignment requires you to make connections between high-quality assessment and learning and innovation skills. Additionally, using the Framework for 21st Century learning (Links to an external site.) as a resource, you will redesign or modify a prior activity from one of your courses in the master’s program. There are several approaches you could take with this assignment. For example, you may redesign an instructional plan with assessment plans embedded throughout or a full assessment plan including a summative assessment you may have constructed. These are just two ideas out of numerous possibilities. If you do not have previous work to use for this assignment, please contact your instructor for guidelines on how to proceed. As needed, refer to your program learning outcomes (PLOs) list  download(MACI, MAECEL, MAED, MASE, or MATLT).

NOTE* Before you select the PLO’s you will highlight in this assignment, be sure to read the final assignment for this course to ensure that you will cover each of your programs PLOs adequately.

Create your assignment to meet the content and written communication expectations below.

Content Expectations

The Redesign expectations explain what you are required to do with the prior coursework you choose to redesign. The Summary expectations are for the separate written portion of this assignment.

  • Summary – Introduction/Conclusion (1 Point): A one paragraph introduction to a summary that concisely presents the scope and organization of the summary writing, as well as a one paragraph conclusion that recaps your summary’s key points.
  • Summary – Modification (2 Points): In one paragraph summarize the changes you made to your activity to meet the redesign expectations for this assignment. Explicitly state how your redesign assignment provides evidence of mastery of at least two PLO’s from your master’s program.
  • Summary – Evaluation (2 Points): In one paragraph, evaluate how your assessment promotes Learning

& Innovation Skills, assess how it could be used as a tool for ongoing evaluation of student progress, and evaluate how it could be used as a guide for teacher and student decision making.

  • Summary – Reflection (1 Point): Summarize, in one paragraph, your experience with the redesign in terms of challenges you encountered and how you overcame those challenges.

Written Communication Expectations

  • Page Requirement (.5 points): Two to four pages, not including title and references pages.
  • APA Formatting (.5 points): Use APA formatting consistently throughout the assignment.
  • Syntax and Mechanics (.5 points): Display meticulous comprehension and organization of syntax and mechanics such as spelling and grammar.
  • Source Requirement (.5 points): References three scholarly sources in addition to the course textbook.

All sources on the references page need to be used and cited correctly within the body of the assignment.

Why is the history of the period of the Roman Monarchy so unreliable?

Answer ONE of the following questions , writing roughly 3 1/2-5 pages for your answer.  Your submissions should be 12pt font double spaced.  Use both of your textbooks (as well as any files/lectures provided on Canvas) to answer the question (if you are using any other outside sources, make sure that they are academic/peer-reviewed ones).  Use your own words, and make sure to cite your sources.  In text citation is to be MLA style, i.e. (Boatwright 2011, 52).  Assignments that do not have in-text citation as well as a Works Cited page will receive a “0” grade.  Your submission must use at least two (2) secondary sources (i.e. articles/textbooks of an academic caliber) and one (1) primary source (i.e. a source written at the time such as Livy, Caesar, Polybius, etc.).

  • Why is the history of the period of the Roman Monarchy so unreliable? Which kings seem to be reliably historical (i.e. having existed), and which kings seem to be more a part of legend, and why (provide specific examples of the seven kings!)?  Can some kings be considered to be completely historical and others completely legendary, or can it be a little bit of both depending on the monarch?
  • Discuss the government of the Roman Republic, giving attention to each of the civil offices. What are the powers of these offices, and how are they similar to that of the U.S. government?  How are they different from that of the U.S. government?  What roles to ‘checks and balances ‘ play in the Roman system, and why?

Can you think of any other adjectives that might apply to their nation’s identity based on the myths they used?

Can you think of any other adjectives that might apply to their nation’s identity based on the myths they used?

This week, you will choose a Native American story or myth.  Review the myths in the learning resources and then choose one story, that is, a myth from a particular tribe or nation.

First, using the material in the learning resources, describe at least two, but no more than four, particular Native American myths using ten adjectives in a sentence, e.g. “Based on the following myths, the Navajo’s mythic identity is ….”  It might be simpler to write out ten sentences with a adjective for each.

Next, cite your myths using MLA format, but put them in a Works Cited list at the end of your post. No need to clutter up the sentence.

After you have posted on your myth, compare your tribe or nation’s identity with those of your peers.

Does the identity description hold up given the sources they cited?

Can you think of any other adjectives that might apply to their nation’s identity based on the myths they used?

This topic post will be worth 20 points, your replies will be worth 10 points each.  Make sure your replies consist of four or more full sentences.

characteristics of students receiving special education, the laws governing special education,

Overview

Special education provides educational opportunities for students who need additional support to make academic or social progress in schools. All educators need to understand the components of special education because effective special education programs include collaboration with a variety of educators, administrators, and school staff.

Instructions

For this assignment, you will write a 1,000-word research-paper in current APA format that focuses on the characteristics of students receiving special education, the laws governing special education, service delivery models for students eligible for special education services, and Biblical principles that support the inclusion of special education services in schools. The paper should contain the following sections:

  1. Introduction: Describe special education and why it is necessary. Include a Scriptural reference to support the necessity of special education in schools. Scripture must be supported by at least one sentence that explains how it relates to your discussion.

  1. Laws: Provide a brief history of the law that established special education in schools (IDEA) and some of the important components of that law (FAPE, LRE). Citations from at least one scholarly resource are required.

  1. Special Education Services: Describe the characteristics of students who receive special education services. How does a student become eligible for special education services? What kinds of services are provided under special education? Citations from at least one scholarly resource are required.

  1. Service Delivery Models: Special education services can be administered in a variety of ways. Describe three tiers of special education service delivery environments from least restrictive to most restrictive. Discuss the type of student who would be best served in each type of environment. Citations from at least one scholarly resource are required.

  1. Conclusion: Summarize the information shared in the previous sections of the paper. Include any additional information or insight you have gleaned from the process of writing this paper. Include a scriptural reference in the conclusion paragraph. Scripture should be supported by at least one sentence that explains how it applies to your discussion.

A title page and a reference page are required for this assignment.

three great Islamic Empires  expanded their power and territory

Beginning during the fifteenth century, three great Islamic Empires  expanded their power and territory, building impressive states across  the Middle East and India.  These empires, the Ottoman Empire, Safavid  Empire, and Mughal Empire, had much in common, but they also had many  unique characteristics which defined and separated them.

For this essay assignment, you will be compare and contrast any two of these Islamic Empires, discussing similarities and differences between. Begin by selecting which of the two empires you will include in your essay and then start researching them. DO NOT use Wikipedia as a source. As always, be sure to keep track of where you find your information so that you can provide citations in your final essay.

As you study the two empires you have selected, there are numerous possible topics that you can consider for the comparison and contrast in the essay. Here are some possible topics:

  • Strengths and weaknesses of the empires
  • Economic policy
  • Military system
  • Wars and conquests
  • Form of government and/or administration
  • The greatest rulers of each empire (compare them)
  • Religious system and policies
  • Problems faced in the empire
  • Interactions between the empires, if any

Once your research is complete and you are ready to begin writing,  your essay should be carefully organized.  In your introduction,  introduce both of the empires that you will be discussing and lay out  the topic for the essay.  The body of the essay will include the  comparison and the contrast of the empires.  Conclude by discussing  which of the two empires you think was more effectively established or  had a stronger foundation, including the reasons why you reached this conclusion.
