Assessment Description

Complete Part One and Part Two to prepare for Part Three in which you will complete the “Workplace Values” document. Your answers for Part Three should be based on the Topic 5 Study Materials, Part One and Part Two of this assignment, and informed by your program of study.

Part One: Research and Observation

Research your current workplace or a local organization within your future career path. Based on their website, published documents, personal interactions you observe, and other relevant resources, find the following:

1. Nature of the business or organization.
2. Business’s or organization’s philosophy, vision, or mission statement.
3. Culture of the business or organization. (Are people or profits valued? Are workers valued?)
4. Description of the treatment of employees.
5. Description of the treatment of customers or clients.
6. Other observations and research-related conclusions relevant to human value and dignity.

Part Two: Interview

Interview a leader within your workplace or local organization you observed. Preference is for an in-person interview, but if necessary, it may be a virtual interview (phone, e-mail, virtual meeting, etc.).

You will use the following interview questions and record the answers given:

1. What is your role within the business or organization?
2. Do you have a philosophy that shapes the way you lead and manage?
3. What is the mission of the business or organization?
4. How would you describe the culture of the organization?
5. What are the intentional efforts being made by the organization to develop that culture?
6. How would you describe the treatment of employees?
7. How would you describe the treatment of customers or clients?
8. Do you have a different vision for the organization’s culture?

Part Three: Comparison

Based on Part One and Part Two, complete the “Workplace Values” document to compare the values of that business or organization with Jesus’s vision of the Kingdom of God.

While APA style is not required for the body of this assignment, solid academic writing is expected, and documentation of sources should be presented using APA formatting guidelines, which can be found in the APA Style Guide, located in the Student Success Center.

This assignment uses a rubric. Please review the rubric prior to beginning the assignment to become familiar with the expectations for successful completion.
