Instituting a culture of continuous quality improvement (CQI) within a healthcare organization is aided by applying the results of SWOT analysis. The strengths and weaknesses identified within the SWOT analysis are often utilized to identify internal factors that affect the organization, while the opportunities and threats typically identify external factors the effect the organization (Harrison, 2016).
When addressing underlying norms within a SWOT analysis, strengths and weaknesses should be closely evaluated. Recognizing that norms must adjust with cultural integration and social advances will mean that norms can shift from strengths to weaknesses. Identifying norms that have transitioned to weaknesses allows the consideration to see growth opportunities.
Shifting policies and growth objectives to facilitate the transition to the organization’s newly strengthened norms will require the engagement of the CQI process by performing a sequential SWOT analysis.
