GOAL The goal of this essay is to accurately describe a complex issue based on two (2) texts that address one or more parts of the issue. Your goal as a writer is to inform your reader.
TOPIC Don’t Blame the Eater by David Zinczenk
DIRECTIONS Choose to one (1) article from TS/IS, find another article on the same topic. It must be a thesis-driven article from a reputable source (so Wikipedia and other reference texts are out). Explain the different perspectives on the issue. Rather than presenting the issue as having only two sides (for or against), show and explain the complexity of the issue using the two (2) texts you’ve chosen. You will not respond to this issue – all of the views you present must come from the two (2) texts you choose.
FORMAT The essay should be 4-5 full pages, typed and double spaced, and include a works cited page. The MLA-style works cited page should include the essay from the TS/IS you have chosen and the essay you found for a total of two (2) essays. Your essay must include at least four quotations, which must be correctly formatted using MLA-style parenthetical citation for the page numbers, and at least four templates, including at least one to introduce a quotation (see p. 46) and one to explain a quotation (see p. 47).
AUDIENCE As you write each part of your essay, assume that your audience (me and your classmates) may not be completely familiar with the essays you have chosen.
