Summary
Financial management skill is an essential skill to have in life.
High Schools should make financial literacy classes a requirement for all students. Unlike Science or Art classes, Financial Literacy is needed in our everyday life by all, no matter the career path one chooses in the future.
Most high school students graduate without knowing or having some vital real-life skills. Society expects them to get a job and be responsible without being taught what it truly means to be accountable and manage money. I believe financial literacy is an essential life skill that everyone, regardless of age, benefits from it.
Many young high school graduates are faced with critical financial matters, such as whether to get student loans and car loans. Economic concepts like budgeting, opportunity costs, and loans are essential topics of financial literacy classes. Understanding these will help students and young adults decide to fund their college educations and help in their debt management skills.
One of the benefits one financial literacy is that it increases the chances of being financially stable. Financial stability is vital to survive and thrive in society, decreasing poverty in the community and creating a more educated and healthy population. It will benefit the future generation because it makes them better prepared for the real world.
