There is a new generation of employees who will be joining the work world and the dynamics of the workers are changing. In this discussion, you will reflect on what you understand about the economy, workforce (those entering and those exiting), and the dynamics of diversity that may impact organizations.

For your initial post, address the following:

  • Identify what you think are the top three challenges facing companies that may impact the work that human resources (HR) does in an organization (speculate what you think the near future may hold for HR)
  • Explain why you think these challenges are critical and how they will impact HR
  • Describe what you think HR’s role should be (if any) in working with these challenges

Does the organization display communication barriers?

For your final  project, I want you to recall a working definition of leadership and  organizational behavior:  Leadership can be defined as the ability of  the management to make sound decisions and inspire others to perform  well. It is the process of directing the behavior of others towards  achieving a common goal.

It may also be  helpful to recall that the last chapter we covered:  Chapter 10 –  Communication.  In order to be successful, individuals in leadership  roles must be able to effectively communicate. In Chapter 10, we  discussed the communication process, the various ways managers  communicate with employees, and barriers to communication.

As such, for your  final project, I would like for you to select an organization that  you’ve worked for and/or attended – one that you’ve observed.  Then, I  want you to identify and explain 1 aspect of communication (discussed in  Chapter 10) the organization’s leaders could benefit from improving,  creating, or removing.  Explain your response.

Examples:

Does the organization display communication barriers?

Does the organization lack a clear channel and structure of communication?

Does the  organization have a particular aspect of business that doesn’t  effectively communicate – verbally, written, and/or nonverbally.

Does the organization communication lack clarity?

Rubric:

20 Points:  Student identified an organization.

20 Points:   Student identified and explained 1 aspect of communication (per Chapter  10) the organization could improve, create, or remove.

60 Points:  Student explained how leadership would benefit from improving, creating, or removing an aspect of communication.

How has your opinion of good instructional design and training changed?

Module 05 Discussion – What Do You Think Now?

How has your opinion of good instructional design and training changed?

Let’s revisit the Module 01 Discussion. Take the example of training you used there. Explain if and how your opinion of that video’s training has changed. Is this training effective or ineffective and why? And how has your definition of effective training changed over the course of the term? Be sure to be detailed and provide specific examples.

Please make your initial post by midweek, and respond to at least one other student’s post by the end of the week. Please check the Course Calendar for specific due dates.

Module 05 Course Project – Final Training Submission

It is time to complete and submit your final training. For both face-to-face and technology-based training, be sure you have included the following:

  1. An attention-getting introduction.
  2. A summary of what learners will be able to do by the end of the training (in other words, tell them the objectives).
  3. Detailed training of the specific tasks or content.
  4. Engaging activities/practice.
  5. Assessments.
  6. A conclusion summarizing what has been learned and emphasizing the relevance and the benefits.

Here’s how to submit your training:

Face-to-Face Training

For face-to-face training, submit a participant’s guide and a facilitator’s guide in a zipped file.

Technology-Based Training

For technology-based training, submit the training in a file that can easily be read by your instructor and classmates. You may use any software to create your training. For example, Screencast-O-Matic is a site and program that can perform screen desk and audio capture up to 15 minutes for free, and it can be used on a Windows or Mac computer.

No matter what software you use, make sure that both your voice and the content (for example, PowerPoint slides) are clearly captured.

important

Your training should be fewer than 10 minutes.

If you are using Screencast-O-Matic, please watch this short instructional video on how to record, upload, and provide your instructor with the web link to your recorded training. You will also submit your PowerPoint slides to the drop box.

How to Record a PowerPoint with Screencast-o-matic

important

You can use another program if you prefer. Screencast-O-Matic is just one suggestion. Just be sure you’ve sent your instructor an email telling them what program you would like to use so you can get approval. Your instructor will want to know the file format in which you will submit your technology-based training.

No outside sources are required for this project, but if you do use sources, be sure to acknowledge them in APA format.

important

Rasmussen’s Library and Learning Services team has developed a variety of resources to help support students’ academic endeavors. For this assignment, the APA Guide may be helpful. You will find links to these resources on the Resources tab.

What is the typical IT implementation process?

nsider the following scenario:

During the third week of your internship, the CIO emails your team several examples of other IT project implementations. Later that day, she says, “Review the examples I sent you about the implementation process. I attached a list of questions for you to answer about how the implementation process works and why IT projects sometimes fail. I’m most interested in your analysis of how organizations like ours can minimize the occurrences and effects of IT failures.”

Read the Case Study—Memorial Health System CPOE Implementation.

Write at least a 1050-word paper in which you answer the following questions:. Your response must address all aspects of each question, must include your personal opinions, ideas, or thoughts; and must provide examples in any situation where it is warranted.

**What is the typical IT implementation process?(my part) 200 words

What are the roles and responsibilities involved in system implementation?

How did the process described in the case study fail to include the fundamental activities of a typical IT implementation process?

What are at least 5 indicators of project failure that manifest themselves in the case study?

For each indicator you described, what might you have done differently to eliminate or minimize its effect?

How would you define Black Power after reading Carmichael?

How would you define Black Power after reading Carmichael?

After reading the two documents please write a single post answering the following two questions and composing one question of your own.  Your answers should be a nice robust paragraph–around 6-10 sentences.

1. How would you define Black Power after reading Carmichael? Where does it come from and what does economics have to do with it according to Carmichael?  Why is being “color-blind” (that is forget color, we are all humans) problematic.  (2.5 points)

2.  What is “the problem with no name and who is Friedan’s audience?  How does she define feminism or “feminine”?  (2.5 points)

3. Write ONE analytical question following up on EITHER of the three documents. That is don’t ask a factual or opinion question but rather a question about what the document means or why the author was arguing what he was arguing. (2.5 points)

In My Bondage and My Freedom, Frederick Douglass argues that slavery was an institution that “victimized” everyone – slaves

In My Bondage and My Freedom, Frederick Douglass argues that slavery was an institution that “victimized” everyone – slaves, slave holders, and non-slave holding whites alike. How can he make such a claim considering the brutality of slavery?

This is an argumentative paper. It is essential that you provide a thesis statement (argument). In writing this paper you are required to engage readings from My Bondage and My FreedomSFA readings, as well as lecture materials. It is expected that you will prove proficiency in the course materials and demonstrate the ability to synthesize and analyze these materials in support of your thesis.

GUIDELINES:

§ DO NOT PLAGIARIZE. Please refer to our policy statement on the syllabus concerning academic dishonesty. It is guaranteed that if you plagiarize at the very least you will fail the paper.

§ Papers should use the MLA format for citations (see below).

§ Papers should provide a works cited page at the end of the paper.

§ This paper is to be 2-3 pages in length. Two FULL pages minimum.

§ Use a 12-point font. Make sure there is a one-inch margin on each side. Double space the text and number your pages.

§ You must have a cover page. On this cover page, in the upper left-hand side and single spaced, put your name, section number, Paper 1, and date the paper is due. Your name or other identifying information should NOT appear anywhere else on your paper.

§ Each student is required to submit a copy of her/his paper in Blackboard (SafeAsign). To submit a paper, log into Blackboard and click on the PAPER ASSIGNMENTS tab. You will find a place to upload your paper.

§ Your thesis should appear in bold.

§  All sources must come from the materials covered in the class – so no outside sources.

§ Do not use personal pronouns (I, me, you, etc.). Do not use contractions (don’t, can’t, won’t, etc.).

§ If you fail to follow the above formatting, you will be deducted 2.5 points on the final grade.

§ For every day a paper is late, 2.5 points will be deducted from the final grade of your paper.

§ Do not string massive quotes together and call it a paper. Do not put quotes around two to four words and consider it an appropriate quote. Quotes can not stand alone as they belong to someone or something. So, be sure to contextualize and introduce any quotes you may use.

§ Use parenthetical citations for directly quoted and paraphrased material. For example:

1. Use of lecture material:

“If you could visualize colonialism, it would look something like a giagantic factory…” (Pettengill 10-19-2019).

In this example you are citing the lecture by putting the last name of the instructor followed by the date the lecture was given.

2. Use of SFA material (whether it be quoted, referenced – acknowledging argument, etc. – or paraphrased:

John Winthrope, a Puritan immigrant from England, believed that Europeans had a legitimate right to the land in America (Yazawa 32-34).

In this example there is a selective use of material.  It is contextualized – the author and the document from which the quote (or argument if you were to note the argument) has been introduced. The citation is properly located at the end of the sentence. Instead of citing the author of the document, you are to cite the editor of SFA – Yazawa – and the page number where we can find your quotation.

AGAIN, quote selectively. You should only quote that which is best said by the author and which both supports your argument as well as moves your paper forward.

3. Your use of Douglass’ My Bondage and My Freedom will follow the same model for parenthetical citation. You will cite the author and the page number upon which the cited/referenced material can be found. Ex. (Douglass 110)

4. If you are speaking specifically about a document from SFA – pointing to a specific piece of text – you should cite the pages of the document. Ex:

“What Right do we Have to the Land,” John Winthrope justifies European expansion by saying God wanted Englishmen to have the land, because He had leveled a vicious plague on the Native population (Yazawa 32).

5. You will not find a specific page(s) to identify Douglass’ argument in My Bondage and My Freedom. However, it is expected that from your reading you will be able to determine what his argument is. You will be expected to articulate this argument in your paper. When you do this you are not expected to cite any page numbers. It is expected that you will introduce your statement of his argument. Ex.

In My Bondage and My Freedom, Frederick Douglass argues that ……….

§ All citations come at the end of the sentence.

§ Please see me (sooner rather than later) if you need guidance in focusing your paper.

Please keep in mind the following (as we will be when grading your paper):

In order to do well on this paper, you have to include your thoughts on the topic (in other words – analyze the material) – do not just summarize the material. You can do this without saying, “In my opinion …” or “I think …” etc.

You must demonstrate that you have critically thought about the material alone and in conversation with each other.

Develop a clear argument in which you fully respond to the topic. Be sure to address all the elements of your thesis in the paper.

Again, demonstrate knowledge of the course material. Any quotations or paraphrased material should be brief and utilized appropriately.

Analyze and interpret texts in a manner that conveys the meaning of the entire text. Why is it important to your argument? Make sure you use these materials to back your claims, not just to meet the page requirement.

The usual standards of good writing are required. This includes accurate spelling (especially of proper names), complete sentences, correct grammar and punctuation.

Clarity and good writing are essential. Avoid broad statements or over-generalization of ideas.

Choose one question from the list below and respond. Identify to which question you are responding. Submit your 1 page response to the Discussion Area. Remember to use supporting citations from the textbook and online lectures. (Here is a guide to help you with APA-style citations.) By the end of the week, please comment substantively on two or more classmates’ assignments and to any questions left to you by the instructor in his or her feedback. Leave comments that raise salient points and stimulate discussion. Focus on the topic and its historical context. Be respectful, helpful, clear, and concise. Always utilize constructive language, even in criticism, to work toward the goal of further learning.

Question 1:

By the 1820s, slavery was under attack, and southerners countered by defending slavery as a positive good and used biblical examples to support their arguments. Explain what the southerners said, and why, and then discuss why by 1850 the national debate over slavery had changed from a primarily legal debate to a moral debate. What events caused this shift?
