Abrahamic religions
Islam, Judaism and Christianity all fall under the umbrella of the Abrahamic religions, as they as have ties to the character of Abraham, a religious figure from the Old Testament/Tanakh. According to Islamic history, Islam traces it’s roots back to Isma’il, one of Abraham’s sons. Further connections are drawn through the Islamic belief that all of the prophets in Jewish and Christian history were connected to Muhammad, the founder of Islam. In fact, the Quran describes the teachings of many of the prophets of Judaism and Christianity, such as Abraham and Jesus. The main difference between the three is that Muslims believe that Muhammad was the last in a series of great prophets and that his word was the direct translation of God’s word, making his teachings the definitive answer to worldly issues for Muslims.
